Reducing coal combustion’s emissions to ZERO will ensure that coal will remain part of the global energy mix for the foreseeable future. Countries can continue to rely on coal as one of their primary energy sources and can use it as a strategic blending additive with municipal solid waste, wood waste, and other waste feedstock with lower heat values to increase the calorific content and achieve the ideal BTU values to optimize system performance. In other words, coal can help directly support the transition to target sources like waste-to-energy (waste-to-wealth), not only as a “transitional fuel”, but also as a residual augment.
