DRAIG Ultra-Low Emissions

'Ultra-Low' Emissions BURNING COAL

How?

The overview of the basic concept includes the fuel of choice being burned concurrently with a mixture of pure oxygen and carbon dioxide (in the future this will be from captured/recirculated flue gas), rather than air. By displacing the role of ambient air in the combustion process Nitrogen is totally eliminated. Typically, ambient air has 78% nitrogen (a non-combustible gas and the primary element found in traditional flue-gas stacks), and includes 1% argon (also non-combustible) as well as 21% oxygen. By using the CO2 + O2 mixture there is a sizable increase in operating efficiency and power output relative to the fuel intake, producing a concentrated purge stream of flue gas with an optimized configuration featuring an almost exclusive CO2, O2, and water vapor make-up.

Operation

The fuel of choice being burned concurrently with a mixture of pure oxygen and carbon dioxide. By displacing the role of ambient air in the combustion process we totally eliminate any Nitrogen from the flue gases. Carbon is captured from the flue gases to be resold. Any SOx will be taken out of the flue gases by more traditional means. The resulting flue gas emissions will be almost devoid of any harmful gases.

Why Retrofit?

Coal is one of the most cost-effective sources for energy production and for the countries in which coal has been an established means of power generation, the coal industry typically supports jobs, local economies, and can be a significant source of revenue through taxes and royalties. Substantial investments have previously been made into existing infrastructure for coal mines, coal depots, and coal power plants. Utilizing these existing assets and infrastructure to produce ultra-low noxious emissions, a DRAIG retrofit is a far more economically sensible approach to responsibly satisfying clean energy demands, rather than decommissioning them to pursue alternatives.

Reducing Emissions

Reducing coal combustion’s emissions to almost zero ensures coal remains part of the global energy mix for the foreseeable future. Countries can continue to rely on coal as one of their primary energy sources and use it as a strategic blending additive with municipal solid waste, wood waste, and other waste feedstock with lower heat values to increase the calorific content and achieve the ideal BTU values to optimize system performance.

BUSINESS MODEL EXPLAINED

DRAIG BUSINESS MODEL

The retrofit programme includes the following: DRAIG supply burners to the power plant with NO capital outlay by the client, our rental service will be covered by a small percentage of your electricity sales. Our service includes providing engineering expertise (again with no capital outlay) to support the planning for retrofitting the plant with our burners. Any changes that need to be effected to the existing plant, in order retrofit the DRAIG burners, will be at the cost of the client. DRAIG will own and monitor all of its burners around the world remotely, to ensure they are operating at maximum efficiency for our customers – in effect providing a support service that enables customers to use our latest intellectual property. DRAIG will support timely upgrade programmes for our customers to pass on ongoing improvements to our technology.

DRAIG's Carbon Capture Partner Business Model

DRAIG's carbon capture partner will employ carbon capture and either sequestration (CCS) or utilization (CCU), both enabling carbon credit retirement (CCR). This can be provided as a 'carbon capture as a service agreement' (CCaaS). The carbon capture partner will carry out the design, engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, management, and maintenance of all carbon capture equipment. Maintaining complete ownership and control over the carbon capture componentry, and the carbon captured.

Advantages

- DRAIG offer a single service to the clients with no capital outlay requirement. The life of an existing non compliant power plant is extended. Any mining industry is revitalised and associated jobs protected. Coal may become viewed as the green energy option of the future.
